World Bird Sanctuary's "Traveling Talons" presentation and exhibit has been an exciting attraction at trade shows, banquets and meetings throughout the United States for many years. We recognize that each show is unique and structure our programs to meet your particular needs. This flexibility provides you with an exciting enhancement to your shows, which will help you increase attendee interest.
The root of our success is our professional staff of birds and humans. All of our show birds are captive-raised and can tolerate large crowds of any size. Where seating and crowd control permit, we can perform up to four 30-minute programs each day. The programs highlight the natural history of each bird and enable our Naturalists to free fly some of the birds right over the heads of the audience! Depending on the facility, we are able to accommodate an audience of 200 or more guests.
If you are interested in a static display we have birds for viewing on perches. Our Naturalists will also handle many of these on a gloved hand. As part of any display we would request bringing our merchandise to sell and donation boxes for passive donations. Proceeds help defray the costs associated with the operation of our avian hospital.
Some questions you may have regarding our appearance:
| Q: | What types of animals are available? |
| A: | World Bird Sanctuary maintains a large collection of native and exotic hawks, owls, falcons, vultures, eagles, parrots and reptiles. |
| Q: | Is there a cleanliness issue? |
| A: | No. We arrange perches and then place carpet squares on top of the perch bases. All carpet squares match and are cleaned daily. We are well experienced at thorough clean-up and will leave no evidence of our stay at the facility. |
| Q: | What permits are required? |
| A: | World Bird Sanctuary holds all necessary Federal permits and we will acquire any needed state permits. It is the responsibility of the show management to acquire any city or local exhibit permits for the animals. We will provide you with all information you may need. |
| Q: | What equipment does the show need to provide? |
| A: | We provide all necessary support equipment to set up and maintain the exhibit including P.A. system when needed. We will need close access to fresh water, a behind the scenes area for clean-up, a letter stating we are to have 24-hour access to the facility, possibly freezer space and an area where the birds can be secured at night. A roped or curtained area is advisable to insure a safe distance between the birds and guests. We also request four chairs or stools and three eight foot tables along with a curtained area to serve as temporary storage for supplies that are important to the health and safety of the animals. |
| Q: | What about media and publicity? |
| A: | World Bird Sanctuary's staff are well trained and can participate in any number of TV, radio or newspaper interviews on-site or in the studio. We are also happy to supply press releases, a variety of photographs or other promotional material to assist you in marketing the show. |
| Q: | How much does a live exhibit from the World Bird Sanctuary cost? |
| A: | Cost is determined by length of show, number of birds exhibited, static display or flying program and mileage from our St. Louis, MO headquarters. |
