Ball Python

This small and docile snake is native to Western Africa. They are common pets. They are also called royal pythons, and get their name ball python from their reaction to something frightening: they curl up into a ball.

This is a North American snake reaching lengths up to 5 feet. They are also known as a gopher snake or a pine snake.

Personality: His species is the longest type of snake in Missouri.

Personality: He is an albino bull snake.


Albino Burmese Python

Python molurus bivittatus

This is a diurnal snake from southeastern Asia. They can grow to 20+ feet and live for 25+ years. Albino snakes don’t generally survive in the wild because they have trouble controlling their temperature. They are also more visible to predators.

Green Tree Python

This is an arboreal snake from New Guinea and northeastern Australia. They begin life in a variety of colors: red, brown, or yellow, but gradually change to their adult green color. They grow up to 5 feet long.

Personality: She loves to wrap around her branches. She is one of our most gentle snakes.


Red-tailed Boa Constrictor

Boa constrictor

This famous boa can grow to 10+ feet long. They are from Central and South America.

Personality: He has been at the World Bird Sanctuary since 2003. He seems to be docile and handles very well. He is one of our stars in the World Bird Sanctuary’s Creature’s of Myth and Legend program.
