Keeper Talks

Have you ever wondered? What do the birds eat? Where does the food come from? Where did these birds come from? Join one of our keepers as they do the morning feeding on our exhibit line, and learn about what we feed the birds, where they come from, and a lit bit about the individual birds that you will meet! Meet opposite the wildlife hospital or catch up with the walk on your own.

"Under One Flag" Book Launch

When: September 11, 2014 at Statuary Plaza on Art Hill in Forest Park, St. Louis, Missouri World Bird Sanctuary will be flying our bald eagle Clark, on 9/11 at the Under One Flag book launching. This event is dedicated to remembering those who lost their lives on 9/11 and the 6,800 men and women lost in war. The book honors three Heroes, one of those Larry Eckhardt, The Flag Man, who will be at the event.

Hey! There's Nature in My Woods! - A Guided Nature Hike

When: May 24, June 28, July 26, August 23, September 27, October 25 | 9am - 11am
Admission: Adults: $11 • Children under age 12: $9

Join us for a leisurely 2-hour hike through our oak hickory forest to see what kind of nature is in our woods. An expert naturalist will lead you on your hike – where you may see birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. Learn about trees, rocks and who knows what else! Each hike will be a new experience depending on the season and creatures we encounter.

International Vulture Awareness Day sponsored by Ameren Missouri

Admission: Admission and parking is FREE. No reservations required.
Join us as we celebrate vultures with zoos and conservation groups around the world. Meet vultures from North America and Africa, as well as a live Andean Condor. There will be free-flight shows featuring live flying vultures. A fun kids activity center will include games and a Vulture ‘Scavenger’ Hunt. Gifts and souvenirs will be on sale. Giveaways from Whole Foods Market. All activities are free. Sponsored by Ameren Missouri.

Learn all about World Bird Sanctuary and the work that we do to save threatened bird species and their habitats! Behind-the-scenes tours of our breeding barn, animal and behavioral training center and wildlife hospital, which are normally closed to the public. See education programs featuring live animals presented in our amphitheater twice daily and children’s programs presented at Kid’s Corners twice daily. Free children’s activities and craft center. 2014 Avian Training Workshop
