Sheena is a Rehabilitation Technician in the Hospital at World Bird Sanctuary.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Longwood University in Virginia, Sheena got her start in the avian field volunteering at Meadowside Nature Center near her hometown in Maryland. She later went on to an internship on the Chesapeake Bay where she assisted in Osprey banding and Wood Duck nest monitoring for an ongoing research project based on the Patuxent River. She started working in the rehabilitation field at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science where she worked to return injured, ill or orphaned avian wildlife back into the wild.
After spending a year rehabbing in Vermont, she went on to work in the clinic at Teton Raptor Center in Jackson Hole where she specialized in raptor rehabilitation. Sheena’s love for wildlife and conservation pushed her to continue working in raptor rehab and she is thrilled to be a part of the team at World Bird Sanctuary.
