Taryn Leach is a Keeper at World Bird Sanctuary.
Taryn is from Metamora, IL but attended school at Kent State University in Ohio where she received her degree in Zoology in 2015. Although she knew she wanted to work with animals in some way, it was her first summer break where she found her passion for raptors. After attending a program by the Medina Raptor Center, she began volunteering there and it was then that she found her love for raptors, both working with and training them, as well as sharing her passion for them by educating the public through programs. She later went on to manage the animal collection at a nature center in Cleveland, working with and training raptors, songbirds, mammals and reptiles.
When a position opened up at the World Bird Sanctuary, she was excited to apply for and get the job, knowing she would be among a group of people dedicated to the outstanding care of her favorite bird group.
When asked what her favorite bird is, she truthfully answers “Whatever bird I’m with at the time.”, feeling that each bird she’s worked with is special in their own way, making it impossible to have a favorite.
