World Bird Sanctuary is a non-profit organization operating under code section 501c(3).
Under IRS rules, the value of a gift is usually eligible as an income tax deduction by the donor. Donating stocks or mutual funds that have gone up in value may be especially worthwhile to the donor.
Example: You bought a stock more than one year ago for $10,000. Today, its market value is $18,000. If sold, you would owe a capital gains tax on the $8,000 profit to the federal government. If donated to World Bird Sanctuary, the original $10,000 PLUS the earned $8,000 could be written off without penalty.
