Volunteers play an integral role in the World Bird Sanctuary mission by helping to care for sick or injured birds in our wildlife hospital, working side by side with our animal husbandry staff, and inspiring the next generation of conservation leaders through our environmental education department. With a wide range of opportunities available, your skill set will be sure to make a difference! If you are a fun loving, enthusiastic, and hard working individual, we would love to welcome you into the team!

Volunteer positions you are most interested in:

Nature Center - Work hands-on with our education staff and ambassador animals to help drive forward our mission of education! Daily tasks include food preparation, cleaning, and other general husbandry duties. Volunteers in this area can also be trained to assist staff in our educational outreach programs. This position is best suited for individuals who do not mind food preparation and regular cleaning. Display Line - The Display Line is our public avian exhibit area. Volunteers in this area work alongside staff in animal husbandry, general site maintenance and enhancement, and visitor engagement. This position is best suited for individuals who enjoy being active and also interacting with members of the public. Education Training Center (ETC) - The ETC is our behind-the-scenes area which houses over half of World Bird Sanctuary’s avian collection. These birds are highly trained or are in training, or are actively participating in conservation breeding initiatives. Volunteers in this area work alongside staff in significant amounts of animal husbandry and site maintenance. Due to the number of birds being cared for by this department, this position is best suited for individuals who do not mind food preparation. Office of Wildlife Learning - OWL is the administrative wing of our education department and interacts constantly with members of the public. Volunteers in this department assist our Office Manager in tasks ranging from customer service, data entry, and file organization. This position is best suited for individuals who enjoy customer service and clerical work.
